Warren County Housing Authority was established in June 1975 as the Low Rent Housing Agency of Warren County; the first Annual Contributions Contract for the Section 8 Existing Housing Assistance Program was signed in April of 1976. The official name has since been changed to Warren County Housing Authority (WCHA).

Our mission is to promote adequate and affordable housing, economic opportunity and a suitable living environment free from discrimination, in Warren County, Iowa. We accomplish all of this through the Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers program

It is our goal to:

  • provide decent, safe and sanitary housing for eligible participants.

  • promote good quality of living for eligible families while maintaining their rent payments at an affordable level.

  • improve the quality of assisted housing

  • promote freedom of housing choice and spatial deconcentration of lower income and minority families.

  • refer families to community resources for assistance in becoming self-sufficient

  • refer supportive services to increase independence for elderly or families with disabilities.

  • provide incentive to private property owner to rent to lower income families by offering timely assistance payments.
